DURHAM, NC – The official statistician of the American Association, Pointstreak, has announced that Amarillo Sox OF Cory Patton (pictured) has been named this week’s Pointstreak Hitter of the Week.

The Sox outfielder hit .433 over seven games, but Patton’s power numbers set him apart from the pack. He hit four long balls and drove in 13 runs, leading the league in both categories over the past seven days. In addition, Patton scored 10 runs and only struck out three times in 30 at-bats.

While Patton’s numbers are impressive at a glance, it is worth noting that two of his home runs and eight of his RBI came in one remarkable game on Saturday. In a 12-5 win over Laredo, Patton hit a grand slam, a two-run homer and a two-run double. He finished 3-for-5 on the night and accounted for three-quarters of the Sox runs, scoring a run on a double by Brandon Jones.
