MOJICA’S BLAST GIVES LEMURS WALK-OFF WIN

Laredo 5, Grand Prairie 4 (12 Innings)

Laredo SS Jimmy Mojica was the hero tonight as he launched a home run in the bottom of the 12th inning to give the Lemurs a 5-4 walk-off win over the Grand Prairie AirHogs. Mojica had five hits on the night along with two runs scored and two RBI. Three other Laredo hitters had two hits, including RF Harrison Kain who went 2-for-5 with a run scored and a run batted in. Lemurs reliever Jameson Maj earned the victory as he tossed two scoreless innings giving up a walk while striking out one. Maj improved his mark to 3-1 on the season.

St. Paul 16, Fargo-Moorhead 0

The St. Paul Saints went out to a 4-0 lead after two innings and would roll to a 16-0 win over the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks. St. Paul DH Brandon Tripp went 3-for-5 with two runs scored and two RBI while SS Adam Frost had two hits in five at-bats, scored three runs and drove in two. Saints LF Willie Cabrera chipped in with his 12th home run of the season. St. Paul starting pitcher Cole Nelson and relievers Bryan Henry and Dylan Thomas combined on a four-hit shutout. Nelson notched the victory and improved his record to 3-2 on the season.

Winnipeg 15, Sioux City 8

The Winnipeg Goldeyes scored seven runs in the fourth inning to take control of the game as they defeated the Sioux City Explorers by the score of 15-8. Winnipeg LF Ryan Scoma and SS Josh Mazzola combined to go 6-for-8 at the plate with four runs scored and eight RBI.  Goldeyes DH Tyler Graham and 3B Amos Ramon each had three hits in the game while RF Ray Sadler plated three runs. Winnipeg reliever Kaohi Downing collected the victory. Downing gave up an earned run on three hits in three innings of work. For Sioux City in the loss, 1B Luke Murton went 3-for-5 with a home run and four RBI.

Wichita 9, Rockland 6

Wichita wins their eighth game in a row as they take care of the Rockland Boulders, 9-6 in an interleague contest. The Wingnuts launched six home runs in the game, including two by CF Brent Clevlen. Clevlen also scored three runs and drove in three in his 2-for-3 night. Wichita 3B Abel Nieves chipped in with a home run as he went 3-for-5 in the game. Wingnuts starter Justin Klipp collected the win tonight as he went six innings and allowed four earned runs on eight hits. For Rockland in defeat, RF Jerod Edmondson had two hits and drove in two runs.

Sioux Falls 5, Lincoln 3

Sioux Falls scored two runs in the seventh inning to break a 3-3 tie and beat Lincoln by a 5-3 final. The Canaries jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning on a home run by CF Reggie Abercrombie. The Saltdogs would get one of the runs back in the bottom of the frame on a 1B Ian Gac sacrifice fly. The score remained at 3-1 until the fifth when Lincoln tied the game up on back-to-back home runs by 2B David Espinosa and 3B Curt Smith.  Sioux Falls then scored the two runs in the seventh on a RBI double by RF Nick Van Stratten and a RBI single by SS Cory Morales to take a 5-3 advantage and would go on to win by that same score. Canaries starting pitcher Kyle Ruwe picked up his ninth win of the season as he gave up three earned runs on 11 hits in seven innings pitched.

El Paso 19, Amarillo 2 (Completion of Suspended Game from July 15)

In the completion of the suspended game from July 15, it was all El Paso as they rolled to a 19-2 win over Amarillo. The Diablos scored in every inning except the first and ninth while plating eight big runs in the eighth. El Paso DH Anthony D’Alfonso and CF Gabe Suarez had four hits apiece and combined to score five runs. Diablos SS Maikol Gonzalez went 3-for-6 with two runs scored and six runs driven in. The offensive support was more than enough for El Paso starting pitcher Reyes Dorado as he notched his second win of the season. Dorado allowed two runs, one earned, on 10 hits in seven innings pitched.

El Paso 8, Amarillo 4 (Regularly Scheduled Game – 7 Innings)

El Paso broke a 4-4 tie with three runs in the fifth inning and would go on to defeat Amarillo 8-4 in the regularly scheduled game. Diablos SS Maikol Gonzalez continued his solid hitting as he went 3-for-5 in the contest with a double and four RBI. In the two games, Gonzalez collected six hits and drove in 10 runs. El Paso CF Gabe Suarez chipped in with three hits in four at-bats along with scoring two runs and driving in one. Diablos reliever Justin Kuks tossed a 1/3 of an inning and earned the win.
