The Milwaukee Milkmen took a 2-0 lead in the American Association Finals on Sunday afternoon as they shutout the Sioux Falls Canaries 2-0.

RF Zach Nehrir (2-for-3) broke the scoreless tie in the bottom of the fifth inning with a lead-off home run. The game’s only other run came in the sixth when SS Mason Davis singled home DH Jose Sermo. The Milkmen held the Canaries to just four hits in the game and 3B Damek Tomscha had two of them as he went 2-for-3.

Milwaukee starter Henderson Alvarez earned the win as he went seven innings and allowed just two hits, one walk and recorded four strikeouts. Reliever A.J. Schugel pitched the eighth and gave up one hit and had one strikeout and closer Peyton Gray worked the ninth to pick up the save.

Sioux Falls starter Tyler Danish took the loss after working six innings and allowing two runs on seven hits.

Game three will be Tuesday evening in Sioux Falls with the first pitch scheduled for 7:05 p.m. Central Time.
