LEMURS ESCAPE WITH ROAD WIN OVER RIVAL WINGNUTS

Laredo 4, Wichita 3 (12 innings)- Box

The Lemurs plated the go-ahead run in the top of the 12th and held the Wingnuts off the board in the bottom of the frame to earn a 4-3 win. RF Denis Phipps led off the 12th with a single for Laredo, and scored on an RBI groundout by C Matt Koch. Wichita loaded the bases with one out in the home half of the 12th, but Laredo turned a game-ending double play. LF Ty Morrison and 2B Alvaro Rondon had two hits apiece for the Lemurs, and 3B Travis Denker hit his fourth homer of the season in the win.

RHP Kyle Winkler worked a scoreless 11th for the win, and RHP Scott Garner shut the door to pick up the save.

For Wichita, DH TJ Mittelstaedt was 2-for-5 with a pair of doubles. 

Gary SouthShore 3, Kansas City 2- Box

An eighth inning run snapped a 2-2 tie and led the RailCats to a 3-2 win at home over the T-Bones. DH Jose Sermo led off the inning with a double and went to third on a sacrifice bunt. C Jose Gonzalez came through with an RBI single to give the RailCats the win. 2B Elbert Devarie and LF Cameron Newell had two hits apiece for Gary SouthShore. Newell’s two hits were both for extra bases – a double and a triple.

LHP Andy Roberts tossed 1.1 innings of scoreless relief for the win, and RHP Taylor Black blanked the T-Bones in the ninth for the save.

SS Vladimir Frias was 3-for-4 for Kansas City, picking up an RBI in the loss.

Texas 10, Lincoln 6 (11 innings)- Box

 The AirHogs exploded for four runs in the top half of the 11th to blow past the Saltdogs 10-6. RF Nick Akins scored the go-ahead run on a wild pitch with 2B Brian Bistagne at the plate. Later in the at bat, Bistagne launched a three-run home run to extend the lead to four. The homer was one of four hit by Texas in the win, as CF Michael Hur, LF Burt Reynolds and 3B Austin Gallagher also went yard. Gallagher went 3-for-6 with three RBI in the win.

LHP Tyler Ihrig hurled three shutout innings for the AirHogs to earn the victory.

1B Rene Levert hit a solo home run in the sixth for Lincoln. 

Fargo-Moorhead 11, Sioux City 8- Box

The Explorers plated two runs in the top of the eighth to tie the game, but the RedHawks rallied with three of their own in the bottom of the inning and held on for an 11-8 win. 2B Ryan Pineda led off the inning with a double for Fargo-Moorhead, and scored when 3B Josh Mazzola blasted his second home run of the season. RF KD Kang added another insurance run later in the inning with a solo home run, his second longball of the game. Fargo-Moorhead pounded out 14 hits in the win – four from Pineda, three from Kang and three from DH Keury De La Cruz.

RHP Travis Ballew struck out three in two scoreless relief innings to earn the win.

RF Michael Lang had a big night for Sioux City in the loss, finishing with a 3-for-6 line and five RBI. Three came on a sixth-inning home run. 

Sioux Falls 8, Winnipeg 6 (13 innings)- Box

Though Canaries 1B Taylor Zeutenhorst came off of the bench in the eighth inning, he would prove to be deciding factor in Sioux Falls’ 8-6 comeback win over the Goldeyes. Zeutenhorst collected a sacrifice fly in the top of the ninth to tie the game and force extra innings, and came up again in the 13th inning with runners at second and third with two outs. Zeutenhorst lined a single up the middle to score two, and later scored in the inning himself.

Additionally for Sioux Falls, 3B Blake Schmit had a three-hit night. LHP Kris Regas fanned two in relief, earning the win for Sioux Falls. For Winnipeg, 2B Wes Darvill had a pair of RBI on a fifth-inning single.

St. Paul at Joplin- Suspended, Weather

 The first game of the doubleheader between the Saints and Blasters was suspended in the middle of the third inning with St. Paul leading 4-0. The game will resume at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, and a seven-inning game will follow.
