LEMURS DOWN CANARIES AND COMPLETE SWEEP

Laredo 1, Sioux Falls 0Box

Laredo 1B John Alonso accounted for the only run of the game with a solo home run in the seventh inning as the Lemurs downed the Sioux Falls Canaries, 1-0. With the victory, Laredo completed the three-game sweep of Sioux Falls. Lemurs LF JP Ramirez had two hits in four at-bats while 2B Travis Denker had three walks. Laredo starting pitcher Jeremy Strawn tossed seven shutout innings en route to the win. Strawn gave up three hits and struck out eight batters. For Sioux Falls in the loss, RF Chris Valencia went 2-for-3.

Lincoln 6, Trois-Rivieres 2Box

The Lincoln Saltdogs scored two runs in the fourth inning to take the lead for good as they went on to defeat the Trois-Rivieres Aigles of the Can-Am League, 6-2. Lincoln 2B Luis Nunez had the big hit in the game as he launched his fifth home run of the season, a three-run shot, in the seventh inning to give the Saltdogs a four-run cushion. It was his only hit of the game and he finished 1-for-5. Saltdogs SS Mike Gilmartin had three hits in the game in five at-bats while RF Brian Joynt, LF Jeremy Hamilton and C Tyler Smith had two hits apiece. Lincoln starting pitcher Marquis Fleming collected the win as he gave up two earned runs on six hits in seven innings pitched.

Wichita at Grand Prairie (Postponed – Rain)

The game between Wichita and Grand Prairie was postponed due to rain. It will be made up as part of a doubleheader in Grand Prairie on Monday, August 25.
