HELD’S TRIPLE DOWNS T-BONES

Kenny Held

June 19 Afternoon Recap

Box Score

Grand Prairie 4, Kansas City 3

Kansas City put the tying and winning runs into scoring position in a comeback effort in the bottom of the ninth, but fell just short to Grand Prairie, 4-3. T-Bones 1B Matt Padgett doubled and Manager Kenny Hook brought in Jeff Squier to pinch run. After the substitution, 2B Jairo Perez singled to put the tying run on third and the winning run on first for C Trevor Coleman. That’s when the T-Bones tried to catch the AirHogs napping. Coleman bunted, moving Perez to second, but Squier stayed put at third. With two outs, the game was placed in the hands of 3B Devin Goodwin. But, AirHogs closer Patrick Mincey induced a game-ending fly out to right field, sealing the win for Grand Prairie. The save was Mincey’s sixth of the year.

AirHogs RF Kenny Held (pictured) put the final out away, but he also contributed offensively. Held drove in the go-ahead run with a triple in the sixth. T-Bones RF Ray Sadler had homered to tie the game the previous inning, but Held’s three-bagger gave Grand Prairie a lead it would not relinquish. Held also drove in a run with a single in the second. He finished 2-for-3 with two RBI.
