Wetherbee Continues Dominant Season, Henson Goes on Homer Binge down South

Lincoln Saltdogs infielder Spencer Henson and Sioux City Explorers starter Jared Wetherbee won the American Association’s Carbliss batter and pitcher of the week for the week ending 7/13, the league announced Monday.

Henson was the lead run producer this week, driving in 10 for Lincoln. He went 9-for-23 (.391) on the week with four home runs in addition to four walks and eight runs scored.

Henson started his week off strong, hitting three home runs in the first two games of the Saltdogs series in Cleburne, driving in three runs in both games.

This is year two for Henson in Lincoln, coming off a 56-game season a year ago in which he hit .259 with 10 homers and 35 RBI. He was previously a member of the New York Yankees organization from 2019-2024.

On the pitching side, Wetherbee continues his incredible season at the top of the Explorers rotation.

It was a two-start week for the left-hander in which he went six innings of one run ball in a win on the road at Kansas City, then followed that up with seven innings of one run ball in Cleburne.

Combined between the starts he struck out 13 and walked just one while allowing six total hits. He’s a perfect 8-0 on the season and has gone at least six innings in all but one of his 10 starts, with his ERA now down to a league-leading 2.33.

This is year three for Wetherbee in Sioux City after he previously spent two seasons in the Philadelphia Phillies organization. Last season he started in 16 games for the Explorers to a 4.39 ERA in 84 total innings.

Carbliss is the founding partner of the American Association.
