Goldsberry Shuts Down Milkmen, Robson Shines for Winnipeg

Winnipeg Goldeyes outfielder Jacob Robson and Kansas City Monarchs starter Blake Goldsberry won the American Association’s Carbliss batter and pitcher of the week awards for the week ending 8/17, the league announced Monday.

Robson was an on-base machine for Winnipeg, collecting eight hits (.381) along with eight walks. Those eight hits included two homers, two doubles and a triple along with four runs batted in.

He shined against the best team in the league on Friday night, collecting three hits including a homer in Winnipeg’s 8-3 win over Sioux City.

This is year three for Robson in the American Association but first in Winnipeg after playing for Kansas City in 2022 and 2023. He spent six seasons in the Detroit Tigers organization and played in the Atlantic League last season as well.

On the pitching side, Blake Goldsberry takes the cake for best performance of the week, pitching eight shutout innings on the road in Milwaukee on Wednesday in a 5-0 win for the Monarchs. He allowed just four hits and struck out six without walking a batter.

It was yet another strong start for the right hander who started this season in the bullpen but has since rattled off a stretch of eight straight starts of at least five innings of work, allowing three runs or less in all but one.

This is year one for Goldsberry in the league after spending the last three seasons in the Colorado Rockies organization, reaching as high as Triple-A.

Carbliss is the founding partner of the American Association.
