Winnipeg 7, Wichita 1 (Game 2 – Series tied, 1-1) – Box

The Winnipeg Goldeyes evened up the best-of-five championship series at a game apiece as they defeated Wichita by the score of 7-1. Winnipeg pounded out 14 hits in the contest, including three home runs that accounted for five of their seven runs. Goldeyes CF Reggie Abercrombie had a pair of blasts and three runs batted in while leadoff hitter Casey Turgeon added a home run and drove in two. Each batter in the Goldeyes lineup collected at least a hit.

Winnipeg starting pitcher Edwin Carl allowed an earned run in six innings of work to earn the victory. Carl gave up three walks and six hits to go along with six strikeouts.

For the Wingnuts in the losing effort, RF Richard Prigatano scored their lone run in a 1-for-2 night.

Following an off day, game three of the series will be at Shaw Park in Winnipeg. First pitch is scheduled for 6:05 PM Saturday with Jordan Cooper (Wichita) and Kevin McGovern (Winnipeg) as the probable starters.
