Gary SouthShore 15, Wichita 0 – Box
The Gary SouthShore RailCats blew out the Wichita Wingnuts by exploding for 20 hits and 15 runs and also shutting the Wingnuts out.
1B Jeremy Hamilton paced the team with a 4-6 game that included three RBIs and a double, while LF Josh Romanski went 3-5 with a home run and three RBIs of his own.
Stephen Hiscock was the winning pitcher for Gary after six innings of shutout ball that included two strikeouts. Hiscock worked around six hits and two walks to prevent the Wingnuts from managing a single run.
St. Paul 5, New Jersey 0 – Box
The St. Paul Saints shut out New Jersey over nine full innings and scored five runs of their own to take down the Jackals and pick up a 5-0 interleague victory.
St. Paul starter Cole Nelson grabbed the win for the Saints after throwing 6.1 innings and allowing five hits. He gave himself some trouble with three walks in addition to the hits, but also struck out six New Jersey batters before handing the ball off to Mikey Mehlich. Mehlich threw the remaining 2.2 innings and gave up just a sinlge hit while striking out three batters.
LF Joe Bonfe and CF Evan Bigley led the Saints offensively, with each player picking up a pair of hits.
Laredo 5, Trois-Rivieres 1 – Box
The Laredo Lemurs got the best of an interleague matchup with the Trois-Rivieres Aigles, holding the Aigles to just one run and picking up a 5-1 victory.
Laredo starter Mike Piazza threw seven great innings for the Lemurs and gave up just four hits and the sole Trois-Rivieres run. He struck out four batters and walked two while picking up the win for Laredo.
2B Travis Denker and DH John Alonso both homered for the Lemurs in this one. Denker went 2-4 with two RBIs and a run out of the cleanup spot and Alonso was 1-4 batting in the six spot.
Lincoln 8, Winnipeg 1 – Box
The Lincoln Saltdogs scored in all but two innings against Winnipeg, and held the Goldyes to just one run to pick up an 8-1 win.
The Saltdog lineup managed 15 hits in this one with some great performances from 1B Ian Gac and LF Matt Forgatch. Gac went 4-5 with two home runs in the cleanup spot, while Forgatch had a 3-5 game with his first home run of the season.
Lincoln starter Joe Bisenius went eight full innings for the Saltdogs and didn’t allow a single run while giving up just three hits and a trio of walks. He struck out seven Winnipeg batters in the outing.
Grand Prairie 6, Amarillo 4 – Box
The Grand Prairie AirHogs got the better of the Amarillo Sox and took a 6-4 win on the road. Down by one after seven innings, the AirHogs managed a one-run eighth and a two-run ninth to come back and take down Amarillo.
SS Jimmy Mojica was the sparkplug for Grand Prairie out of the lead off spot tonight, going 3-5 with a run.
AirHog reliever Dustin Cameron picked up the win for Grand Prairie after throwing .2 innings in the eighth. Cameron came in with two runners on and managed to get out of a big jam with no runs scored after a fielding error loaded the bases.
Sioux City 8, Fargo-Moorhead 6 – Box
The Sioux City Explorers got the better of the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks in an offensive game that featured 25 total hits, with the Explorers winning 8-6. The Explorers managed 14 hits while the RedHawks struck for 11.
SS Nate Samson paced the Sioux City offense with four hits in five at bats, including his first home run of the season, three runs and two RBI.
1B Luke Murton and LF Rene Tosoni also had good games at the plate, each of them going 3-5. Out of the five and six spots in the lineup, the two combined to drive in five runs and score one.
Kansas City at Sioux Falls (Suspended – Rain)
The game between the Kansas City T-Bones and the Sioux Falls Canaries has been suspended due to rain. The teams were tied 1-1 and the game will be completed tomorrow at 1:05 p.m., followed by the regularly scheduled game, which will be seven innings.
