1B Ian Gac (pictured), the defending American Association Player of the Week, hit two home runs as the Saltdogs took the opener of a day-night doubleheader at Haymarket Park. He hit a three-run shot to put the Saltdogs up 3-1 in the bottom of the first, and followed that up with a grand slam in the second. SS Mike Gilmartin hit a three-run home run in the bottom of the fourth as Lincoln put up 12 runs in the first four frames.

Six Saltdogs had multi-hit games, led by Gac’s two-homer game. RF Peter Barrows and 3B Amos Ramon each hit home runs for Sioux City. RHP Nick Green tossed six innings for the Saltdogs, striking out three. RHP Jake Meiers struck out a batter over three innings to earn the save.

Lincoln now leads the American Association Central division by ½ game over Gary SouthShore. The Saltdogs have the head-to-head tiebreaker for the playoff spot.
