Fargo-Moorhead 12, Sioux Falls 3 – Box
The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks exploded offensively for 15 hits to take down the Sioux Falls Canaries 12-3, while holding the Canaries to just six hits. RF Brandon Tripp provided much of the firepower for the RedHawks out of the seventh spot in the lineup with three hits, four RBIs and two runs. He homered for the second time this season as part of a 3-4 game. 3B C.J. Retherford and 1B Erik Castro also had nice nights at the plate, going 3-5 and 4-4 respectively. Retherford hit his 22nd double of the season, while Castro tacked on a walk to reach base five times on the night.
Wichita 4, Sioux City 3 – Box
The Wichita Wingnuts edged out the Sioux City Explorers 4-3 thanks to a two-run effort in the seventh and ninth innings. The Wingnuts were able to pick up the win despite being outhit 11-6 and trailing into the ninth inning. The back of the Wichita lineup did all of the work, with C Chris McMurry, 1B Trevor White, DH Taylor Oldham and RF David Amberson each racking up runs in the final four spots of the lineup. Amberson paced the group and the team with a 2-4 game that included a double and two RBIs in addition to the run.
St. Paul 6, Laredo 3 – Box
The St. Paul Saints doubled up the Laredo Lemurs 6-3 Friday night after a seven-inning outing from starting pitcherAnthony Claggett. Claggett allowed just two runs over the seven frames while striking out five batters and walking four. He worked around the four walks and scattered six hits with 115 total pitches to get the win for St. Paul. Leadoff man and 3B Devin Thaut led the offense with a 2-4 game that included his third home run of the season, two RBIs and a walk.
Kansas City 5, Winnipeg 4 – Box
The Kansas City T-Bones held off a late rally by the Winnipeg Goldeyes to pick up a 5-4 win. Kris Regas was credited with the win for Kansas City after tossing two innings and limiting the Goldeyes to just a single run. RF Ray Sadler paced the T-Bones on the offensive end with a 3-4 game out of the cleanup spot that featured two RBIs. SS Vladamir Friaswas the only other Kansas City player to knotch a multi-hit game, with a pair of hits out of the six-hole.
Gary SouthShore 7, Amarillo 4 – Box
The Gary SouthShore RailCats put away the Amarillo Sox 7-4 after a four-run outburst in the bottom of the eigth inning to take the lead from the Sox. Amarillo wasn’t able to respond after that late rally and relief man Barry Fowler would pick up the win. Fowler tossed the two final innings of the game and shutout the Sox while allowing just one hit. 2B Zac Mitchell and 1B Wally Backman both had two-hit games for Gary to help power the offense.
Rockland 7, Lincoln 4 – Box
The Rockland Boulders took down the Lincoln Saltdogs 7-4 after a 10-run effort from the awesome. Four Rockland batters had multi-hit games against the Saltdog pitching staff including 1B Jerod Edmondson and 3B Stephen Cardullo. Edmondson hit his sixth homer of the season out of the cleanup spot and Cardullo doubled for the 16th time of the season in a 2-4 night out of the six-spot. Greg Terhune picked up the win for Rockland after striking out nine Saltdog batters over seven innings of work.
Quebec 5, Grand Prairie 3 – Box
The Quebec Capitales used a four-run sixth inning to take down the Grand Prairie Air Hogs 5-3. 3B Balbino Fuenmayor had a terrific night at the plate for Quebec, going 4-5 out of the cleanup spot with his 17th double of the season, a run and an RBI. SS Jonathan Malo also had a nice night offensively, with a 2-5 showing out of the two-spot which included his 13th double of the season.
