DOGS WALK OFF ON COUGARS IN 10

Chicago 4, Kane County 3 (10 Innings) – Box Score

A 10th-inning RBI double from LF Brennan Metzger gave the Chicago Dogs (39-25) a 4-3 walk off win over the Kane County Cougars on Tuesday night.

The Cougars jumped out early with a two-run homer from CF Anfernee Seymour (2-for-5) and an RBI single from 2B Josh Allen (2-for-5) in the top of the first inning. In the home half, RF Anfernee Grier (3-for-4) singled to score both Metzger (3-for-5) and DH Danny Mars. The Dogs tied things back up in the third when Mars scored on a sac fly from 1B K.C. Hobson and the score remained level at 3-3 through the top of the 10th.

In the bottom of the 10th, 3B Johnny Adams hit a lead-off single and took second on a sac bunt from 2B Grant Kay. After SS Harrison Smith bounced out, Metzger doubled to score Adams and end the game.

 

Winnipeg 8, Sioux City 7 – Box Score

The Winnipeg Goldeyes (31-31) edged the Sioux City Explorers with a pair of late runs to snag an 8-7 win.

The Explorers took a 7-6 lead in the bottom of the seventh as CF Chase Harris scored on an error, 1B Jose Sermo (4-for-5) singled home SS Chris Clare and 3B L.T. Tolbert singled to score Sermo. Winnipeg responded in the next frame as DH Logan Hill hit into a fielder’s choice that scored RF Max Murphy (2-for-4) and Hill scored on a wild pitch to take the lead.

For the Goldeyes, 1B Kyle Martin went 2-for-4 including a grand slam in the third for his 21st homer of the year.

 

Fargo-Moorhead 6, Lincoln 4 – Box Score

The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks (37-27) used a five-run sixth inning to top the Lincoln Saltdogs 6-4.

The RedHawks were trailing 4-1 heading into the bottom of the sixth when they started their game-changing rally. 2B Manuel Boscan (2-for-5) and 3B Leobaldo Pina hit back-to-back RBI base knocks and C Dylan Kelly doubled later in the inning to plate both of them as well as DH Jordan George  (2-for-2) to take control of the contest.

1B Correlle Prime added a 3-for-5 performance with a pair of runs scored for the RedHawks.

For the Saltdogs, 3B David Vidal went 3-for-4 with a run and RF Edgar Corcino went 2-for-4 with two RBIs.

 

Milwaukee 6, Sioux Falls 2 – Box Score

The Milwaukee Milkmen (41-21) rode an early lead to an 6-2 win against the Sioux Falls Canaries on Tuesday evening at Franklin Field. The win marks 16 in their last 18 contests.

In the bottom of the first, CF Brett Vertigan (2-for-4) scored as 3B Logan Trowbridge (2-for-5) doubled and took third on an error to open the scoring. Trowbridge scored on a single from 1B David Washington and he scored when C Christian Correa homered two batters later. Washington scored again in the third on an error and Vertigan added an RBI single in the sixth to plate 2B Aaron Hill (2-for-4).

Both of the Canaries’ runs came in the eighth as 3B Zane Gurwitz singled home RF Wyatt Ulrich and DH Jabari Henry scored when LF Mike Hart reached on a fielder’s choice.

Starting pitcher Matt Solter earned the win after working seven innings and allowing three hits while striking out nine batters.

 

Kansas City 6, Houston 2 – Box Score

The Kansas City Monarchs (39-22) outpaced the Houston Apollos to take game two of their four game set with a 6-2 win on Tuesday night.

The Monarchs struck first in the bottom of the second as CF Charcer Burks scored on a wild pitch and 3B Darnell Sweeney (2-for-2) singled home SS Morgan McCullough (2-for-3). In the third, DH Will Kengor (2-for-4) added an RBI single, Burks homered in the fifth, and RF Gabriel Guerrero and McCullough pitched in RBI singles in the sixth and seventh innings, respectively.

For the Apollos, RF Aaron Takacs (2-for-4) had an RBI single in the third and LF Taylor Zeutenhorst singled to score SS Yeiler Peguero (2-for-4) in the sixth.

 

Gary SouthShore 7, Cleburne 1 – Box Score

The Gary SouthShore RailCats (25-28) posted six runs in the top of the first and rolled to a 7-1 win against the Cleburne Railroaders with the help of a complete game three-hitter from starting pitcher Jack Alkire.

In the top of the first, 1B Tommy McCarthy (2-for-4) doubled to score CF Billy Cooke (2-for-6) and then scored on a pass ball later in the inning. RF Zach Welz added an RBI single and scored on an error after 2B Jose Mercado singled to score DH Raymond Jones. LF Jesus Marriaga capped the rally with an RBI single that plated C Jackson Smith (2-for-5). In the third, SS Thomas Walraven (2-for-4) lifted a sac fly that scored Cooke.

Cleburne’s only run came in the bottom of the first when 3B Chase Simpson doubled to score CF Zach Nehrir. Alkire went the rest of the way allowing just one more hit, one walk and striking out 10 batters to improve to 4-5 on the year. The game marked his first career complete game in the American Association.
