Chicago 4, Sioux Falls 3 – Box Score
The Chicago Dogs (29-22) extended their franchise best winning streak to seven games with a 4-3 win against the Sioux Falls Canaries.
The Dogs took an early lead in the second inning when C Mitchell Kranson singled home DH Keon Barnum (2-for-4). Later in the inning, LF Tony Rosselli and CF David Olmedo-Barrera had consecutive RBI singles. The Canaries tied things up in the seventh as 2B Alay Lago scored CF Brett Vertigan and 1B Kevin Taylor with a single and LF Jordan Ebert lifted a sac fly.
In the top of the ninth, RF Victor Roache belted out a solo shot for what turned out to be the winning run.
St. Paul 10, Winnipeg 9 – Box Score
After an eventful eighth inning, the St. Paul Saints (34-19) edged the Winnipeg Goldeyes 10-9.
The Saints were leading 7-6 heading into the top of the eighth inning before the Goldeyes surged in front. In the top of the eighth, SS Wes Darvill (2-for-4) scored as 1B Kyle Martin (2-for-5) reached on an error and, in the next at-bat, DH Willy Garcia (2-for-5, 6 RBIs) hit a two-run home run to take a two-run lead.
In the bottom of the frame, SS Chris Baker tied the game with a two-run home run and on the very next pitch, DH Brady Shoemaker (4-for-5) hit a solo shot to provide a the eventual game-winning run.
OF John Silviano went 3-for-3 with two RBIs and three runs scored.
Milwaukee 7, Sioux City 3 – Box Score
The Milwaukee Milkmen (22-30) worked their way past the Sioux City Explorers for a 7-3 win at Routine Field Friday evening.
The Milkmen racked up 11 hits in the game but 10 of them came from just four batters. CF Adam Walker had three of them including his 10th home run of the year and second in as many games. 1B Glen McClain also had three hits as he went 3-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored. RF Nolan Early and DH Dan Ward each added a pair and Ward had a three-run homer in the fourth inning.
For the Explorers, C Dylan Kelly went 2-for-4 with a pair of RBIs and 3B Jose Sermo went 2-for-4 with a solo home run.
Fargo-Moorhead 10, Lincoln 5 – Box Score
With 14 hits from seven different batters, the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks (35-18) doubled up the Lincoln Saltdogs 10-5.
1B Correlle Prime had three of those hits as he went 3-for-3 with a pair of home runs, three RBIs and three runs scored. SS Yhoxian Medina and RF Tim Colwell also recorded three hits on the night; Colwell pitched in a pair of RBIs and Medina scored twice. C Brian Olson went 2-for-4 and scored a pair of runs as well.
For the Saltdogs, 2B Christian Ibarra, RF Randolph Oduber, 1B Curt Smith and C Tyler Moore each had two hits.
Kansas City 8, Texas 2 – Box Score
The Kansas City T-Bones (27-24) put a bow on their 8-2 win against the Texas AirHogs with a five-run eighth inning.
In the top of the sixth, DH Erik Manoah hit a leadoff home run to pull the AirHogs with one run at 3-2. In the bottom of the eighth, the T-Bones erased all hope of a comeback as they batted around and scored five runs on four hits. RF Danny Mars (3-for-5) plated the first run of the rally with a single and then CF Mason Davis (3-for-3, 3 runs) scored on a dropped third strike. Mars scored as SS Shawn O’Malley singled and then 2B Dylan Tice (2-for-5) and O’Malley both scored when LF Casey Gillaspie singled two batters later.
CF Han Xiao had a pair of hits for the AirHogs.
Kansas City starter Tommy Collier improved to 6-3 on the year after throwing seven innings, allowing two runs (one earned) on six hits and striking out six batters.
Cleburne 13, Gary SouthShore 2 – Box Score
The Cleburne Railroaders (29-23) pulled away late to top the Gary SouthShore RailCats 13-2 in the first game of their series.
The RailCats scored both of their runs in the bottom of the first inning as 1B Alex Crosby scored on a fielder’s choice from DH Thomas Walraven and RF Colin Wilis (2-for-4) singled home 2B Will Savage. RF Hunter Clanin (2-for-6) tied things up in the top of the second with a two-run home run and, in the fifth, C John Nester (2-for-6) and 2B Ryan Brett hit back-to-back RBI doubles to push Cleburne in front.
In the sixth, CF Zach Nehrir (2-for-5) doubled in three runs and then scored on a fielder’s choice from Nester later in the inning. Cleburne loaded up the bases in the seventh and pushed across four more runs. 1B Grant Buck had a game-high three hits.
