The American Association of Professional Baseball (@AA_Baseball) announced today that Lake Country DockHounds infielder Jack Blomgren and Cleburne Railroaders right-hander Scott Ellis have been named the Carbliss Batter and Pitcher of the Week for the week ending June 28.
Blomgren fueled the DockHounds’ offense with an outstanding week at the plate, batting .423 (11-for-26) while posting a .531 on-base percentage and a 1.339 OPS. The infielder tallied four extra-base hits, including two triples and two home runs, while scoring seven runs and driving in 13.
A catalyst in the middle of Lake Country’s lineup, Blomgren consistently delivered in key situations throughout the week. His blend of power, speed and timely hitting helped power the DockHounds’ offense as they continued their strong play in the American Association.
On the mound, Ellis turned in one of the league’s most dominant pitching performances of the season. The Cleburne right-hander tossed a complete-game shutout against the Milwaukee Milkmen, allowing just four hits over 9.0 innings while striking out five and walking two.
Ellis finished the week 1-0 with a spotless 0.00 ERA, never allowing a run in his lone appearance. His complete-game gem showcased his efficiency and command, helping the Railroaders secure a key victory while earning Carbliss Pitcher of the Week honors.
The Carbliss Batter and Pitcher of the Week awards are selected by the American Association of Professional Baseball.
