The Sioux Falls Canaries (1-3) built an early lead and held off a ninth-inning surge from the Milwaukee Milkmen (3-1) to claim game four of the American Association Finals 5-3.

The win for the Canaries forces a game five in the series which will take place tomorrow, Friday September 17, at 7:05 p.m. Central Time in Sioux Falls.

RF Clint Coulter plated the game’s first run with an RBI single in the bottom of the first inning. In the second, DH Jabari Henry (2-for-2) doubled home 2B Alay Lago and then scored later in the inning when LF Mike Hart bounced out to second.  Henry added a solo shot in the fourth inning and Hart doubled home C Roy Morales (3-for-4) two batters later.

The Canaries held the scoreless, and had only allowed three hits, until the top of the ninth inning. There, RF Zach Nehrir and C Christian Correa both drew walks and CF Brett Vertigan hit a three-run home run to pull the Milkmen within a pair of runs. In the next at-bat, 2B Myles Smith flew out to left field for the final out of the game.

Canaries reliever Jake Zokan threw four innings and allowed two hits while striking out four batters to earn the win.
