August 11 Box Scores

Lincoln 14, Gary SouthShore 4

Lincoln’s 3B Bryan Pounds (pictured) was absolutely pounding the ball Sunday as he left the yard three times as the Saltdogs cruised past the Gary SouthShore RailCats 14-4. Pounds was 4-for-5 in the game with four RBI but he wasn’t the only Saltdog to push that many runs across the plate.

2B David Espinosa also had four RBI in his 3-for-5 performance – three of his RBI came with on a seventh inning homerun. LF Matt Forgatch also had a three-run homerun earlier in the contest. For the RailCats, leadoff man LF Adam Klein went 3-for-5 with two RBI and DH Christian Vitters added two hits.

Winnipeg 4, Sioux Falls 2 (Game 2 – 7 Innings)

After a rain delay forced a Sunday afternoon doubleheader in Winnipeg, the Goldeyes beat the Sioux Falls Canaries 4-2 in seven innings in the second game to split the twinbill. RF Ray Sadler had a solo homerun and a sacrifice fly to provide two crucial runs. His fellow outfielders, CF Tyler Graham and LF Fehlandt Lentini both added two hits. Graham also had an RBI.

The Canaries tried to rally in the top of the seventh as CF Nick Van Stratten singled in a pair of runs to cut the lead in half. But Reliever Patrick Keating forced the next batter to bounce out to end the game. Starter Chris Salamida was tabbed as the winner for his 6.1 innings of work in which he allowed two runs on just four hits.

Fargo-Moorhead 4, Kansas City 2

After falling behind in the first inning, the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks put up three runs in the second to take the lead for good on their way to beating the Kansas City T-Bones 4-2. DH Tim Alberts knocked in the first run of the inning when he singled in 1B Keith Brachold. Brachold had a team high three hits in the game.

Alberts later scored on a single by LF Mitch Einertson and two batters later SS Zach Penprase singled in RF Buddy Sosnoskie. For the T-Bones, both 3B Matt Padgett and SS Felix Molina had two hits and Padgett added an RBI.

Grand Prairie 6, Laredo 0

Behind a quality start from Gabriel Garcia, the Grand Prairie AirHogs blanked the Laredo Lemurs 6-0. The Lemurs only scratched out two hits in the contest, both off of Garcia, but couldn’t push in a run and Garcia picked up the win. In his 7.1 innings on the mound he struck out six batters and allowed just one walk.

Offensively, both 3B Brandon Pickney, who went 2-for-4, and 1B Andres Rodriguez, who was 2-for-5 with a homerun, had a pair of RBI. For the Lemurs SS Jimmy Mojica had one of the two hits and drew the only walk of the game.
