Fargo-Moorhead 5, Rockland 1
Back-to-back home runs in the first inning by Ronnie Bourquin and Nic Jackson got the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks off to a roaring start and they never looked back. Bourquin later belted a second home run to add to the lead and Jake Laber (pictured) tossed a complete game, as the RedHawks downed the Rockland Boulders, 5-1.
Bourquin was clearly the offensive leader for the RedHawks. Both of the third baseman’s home runs came with a runner on base and he singled in the game to finish 3-for-4 with four RBI.
On the hill, Laber was a puzzle to Rockland’s hitters. The left-hander wavered once, allowing a Boulders run in the second on a Jaren Matthews double. But, that damage was a mere blip on a stellar complete-game performance. Laber earned the win by allowing just seven hits over nine innings. He did not walk a batter and struck out four.
