Grand Prairie 12, El Paso 0
The Grand Prairie AirHogs shutout the El Paso Diablos 12-0 in a fantastic display of pitching and hitting.
Derek Blacksher threw a complete game shutout and missed a no-hitter by just two hits. He struck out six and walked just two batters over all nine of his innings. He only needed 107 pitches to get all 27 outs of the game.
Seven of the AirHogs hitters had multi-hit nights with RF Chad Mozigo and DH Palmer Karr leading the way with three hits apiece. Mozingo was 3-6 with two RBIs and a run while Karr went 3-5 with a run and an RBI.
Altogether, Grand Prairie totaled 18 hits and eight walks in a great effort at the plate to support a great outing on the mound.
Sioux Falls 4, Gary SouthShore 1
The Sioux Falls Canaries used a great outing by starting pitcher Ben Moore to propel themselves to a 4-1 victory over the Gary SouthShore RailCats.
Moore threw seven innings in his bid for the win and limited the RailCats to just one run on seven hits. He used 128 pitches to get all of them completed but managed to strike out four batters and walk none in the seven frames of work.
2B Stephen King paced the offense out of the nine spot, going 2-3 with a double, a run, and an RBI. 3B Jared Clark also doubled, scored once, and drove in one with his 1-4 night at the plate.
Kansas City 8, Winnipeg 6 (10 Innings)
It took the Kansas City T-Bones ten innings, but they would eventually complete their comeback and beat the Winnipeg Goldeyes, 8-6, after being down 6-1 with six full innings played.
1B Jairo Perez and RF Luis Rivera powered the T-Bones lineup with three hits apiece. Perez went 3-4 with two doubles, three RBIs, one run and a walk, while Rivera went 3-4 with a homerun, four RBIs, and two runs.
Chad Robinson grabbed his third win of the season for pitching the ninth and tenth innings without giving up a hit or a run.
Rockland 2, Lincoln 1
The Rockland Boulders scored once in each of the first two innings and that would be all they would need to top the Lincoln Saltdogs 2-1.
CF Donnie Webb and LF Stephen Cardullo would be responsible for the two runs on the board with the help of SS Matt Nandin and C Billy Alvino driving each in. The four would combine for just three hits and one walk but all of the offense Rockland would put up.
Bo Budkevics took the mound for the Boulders and threw up six innings of one-run baseball en route to the win. He struck out three batters, walked one, and gave up seven hits to the Saltdogs.
Amarillo 7, Laredo 1
The Amarillo Sox got off to a quick start against the Laredo Lemurs, scoring three runs in the first inning. They would tack one four more runs in four separate innings to end up winning 7-1.
3B/C Trey Ford had a perfect night at the plate to help ensure the Sox victory. He went 3-3 with a walk and three RBIs. LF Joe Weik and 1B Kyle Nichols both homered in their only hits of the night.
Joe Newby got the win on the mound for Amarillo after his seven inning, 115 pitch bid. He gave up just one run on five Laredo hits while striking out five and walking two.
St Paul 7, Sioux City 1
The St. Paul Saints also beat their opponent, Sioux City, 7-1 after scoring once in the first, twice in the third, and four times in the fourth inning. The Saints combined for twelve hits on the night.
2B Dan Kacrowski lead the offense with a 2-4 night that included a walk, a run, two RBIs, and his fifth stolen base of the season. 1B Brian Burgamy chipped in as well with his fourth home run of the season and two RBIs.
Anthony Claggett picked up his eighth win of the year for the Saints after throwing seven innings and striking out ten Canarie batters. He let up one run on eight hits.
Wichita 4, Fargo-Moorhead 3 (11 innings)
It took Wichita 11 innings and seven pitchers, but after the final inning was over, they were up 4-3 over the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks.
The group of pitchers the Wingnuts threw out combined to allow eleven hits and three runs (two earned) while striking out 13 RedHawks but also walking 10. Joshua Stone would wind up getting the win for recording the final out of the game.
1B CJ Ziegler and SS Ryan Khoury would be the two Wichita batters to really put the game away however, as they teamed up to score the winning run in the eleventh inning. With Khoury on third base after walking to lead off the inning, Ziegler hit a walk-off sacrifice fly to center field to cap off the victory.
