BERGIN GROOVING WITH HIS NEW TEAM; EARNS PLAYER OF THE WEEK

MOORHEAD, MN- The official statistician of the American Association, Pointstreak, has announced that Sioux Falls Canaries’ IF David Bergin (pictured) has been named this week’s Pointstreak Player of the Week for the week ending July 22.

Bergin went on a tear last week, batting .462 with 3 HRs and 9 RBIs. The right handed slugger hit all three of his home runs in the last two games of the week, with two coming on Saturday in a 8-5 win over the Chicago Dogs. Bergin put together another marquee performance on July 18 when he went 5-for-5 with 3 RBIs in a 10-8 win over his former team, the Winnipeg Goldeyes.

Bergin began his professional career in 2011 after being drafted in the 30th round of the MLB Draft by the St. Louis Cardinals. The Tennessee Wesleyan alum reached double-A in 2014 while a member of the Colorado Rockies’ organization. Bergin moved on to the American Association in 2015 by signing with Sioux Falls. He split time in 2016 with the Canaries and St. Paul Saints before moving on to the Goldeyes where he won a championship in 2017.
