Sioux Falls Canaries infielder Jordan Barth and Winnipeg Goldeyes starter Mitch Lambson won the American Association’s Carbliss Batter and Pitcher of the Week awards for the week ending 6/15, the league announced Monday.
Barth led the league in hitting this week with a .536 average and 15 hits including three doubles, a triple and a home run. He also drove in four runs and scored six runs.
Not only did he rack up big numbers across the week, he did so by performing well in each game.
He had three hits in all three games of Sioux Falls’ sweep over Gary to start the week, then two hits in each of the club’s three wins against Kane County over the weekend.
This is year three as a Canary for the Sioux Falls native. He’s coming off an all-star campaign a year ago when he hit .254 with 12 home runs and 48 runs batted in.
On the pitching side, Lambson had one start this week and delivered a complete game for the Goldeyes.
On the road in Gary, Lambson went the full nine against the RailCats, allowing seven hits and one run while striking out seven and not walking a batter.
It was the best of the seven starts Lambson has made this season, where outside of one he has not allowed more than three runs and has pitched at least five innings.
The left-hander is an AAPB veteran, playing in his sixth season with the Goldeyes. Last season he made four starts with a 4.74 ERA.
