ARGO TO SEATTLE AFTER TWO SOLID AA SEASONS

Durham, N.C. — The contract of Sioux Falls Canaries OF Willie Argo has been purchased by the Seattle Mariners organization, the American Association announced on Friday.

Argo had spent 2015 and 2016 with the St. Paul Saints before being traded to Sioux Falls in September. While with the Saints, the native of Edina, Minn., appeared in 155 games over two seasons, hitting .294 with 20 home runs, 90 RBI and 32 doubles during that span. He finished the 2016 season fourth on the team with a .294 batting average, third with 16 doubles and third with 14 stolen bases.

Prior to St. Paul, Argo, 27, spent four seasons in the Tampa Bay Rays organization, reaching as high as Double-A. He was originally chosen by the Rays in the 22nd round of the 2012 draft out of the University of Illinois.
