Grand Prairie 7, Laredo 5 – Box
Grand Prairie scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to break a 5-5 tie and beat the Laredo Lemurs by the score of 7-5. AirHogs 3B Juan M. Richardson and 2B Brandon Pinckney each had three hits in the game with Richardson scoring two runs and Pinckney driving in one. Grand Prairie CF Keanon Simon, 1B Frazier Hall and RF Kenny Held chipped in with two hits apiece. AirHogs reliever Jakob Cunningham was the winning pitcher as he tossed an inning allowing an earned run on a hit. Laredo SS Jimmy Mojica went 3-for-5 with a triple in the loss.
Winnipeg 12, Sioux Falls 1– Box
The Winnipeg Goldeyes scored early and often as they plated eight runs in the top of the 1st inning and rolled to a 12-1 victory over the Sioux Falls Canaries. Winnipeg’s 1-2 hitters of CF Fehlandt Lentini and LF Ryan Scoma were terrific as they went a combined 6-for-10 at the plate with five runs scored and five RBI. Goldeyes 1B Casey Haerther also chipped in with two hits, two runs and three RBI. Winnipeg starting pitcher Matthew Rusch easily collected his fourth win of the season. Rusch went 7 2/3 innings giving up an earned run on eight hits with two walks and seven strikeouts.
St. Paul 3, Rockland 0 – Box
Three St. Paul pitchers combined to throw a five-hit shutout as the Saints downed the Rockland Boulders by the score of 3-0. Starting pitcher Cole Nelson went the first 6 2/3 innings allowing three hits and three walks while striking out four batters. Nelson notched the win and is now 1-1 on the season. Reliever Mikey Mehlich gave up the other two hits and walked one while reliever Matt Meyer tossed a scoreless ninth to collect his fourth save of the season. Saints SS Joey Becker and 1B Craig Brazell each had three hits to lead the offense.
Kansas City 9, Sioux City 2 – Box
The Kansas City T-Bones scored four runs in both the seventh and eighth innings to break open a tight game and beat the Sioux City Explorers by a 9-2 final. T-Bones 3B Devin Goodwin and CF Kennard Jones each had two hits and two runs scored while 2B Jairo Perez and 1B/PR Jeff Squier launched home runs. Kansas City starting pitcher Aaron Tullo went seven innings en route to his third win of the season. Tullo allowed an earned run on six hits with four walks and seven strikeouts. For Sioux City in the loss, 1B Wally Backman collected three hits.
Wichita 1, El Paso 0– Box
Wichita starting pitcher Jon Link and three relievers combined to toss a seven-hit shutout as the Wingnuts defeated the El Paso Diablos, 1-0. Link threw the first 6 2/3 innings and allowed four walks and six hits while fanning five El Paso batters. The relievers of Nick Walters, Lincoln Holdzkom and Josh Dew took it the rest of the way and gave up only one hit. Link picked up his fourth win of the season while Dew notched his fourth save. SS Ryan Khoury drove in the game’s only run in the fifth inning and went 2-for-4.
