Grand Prairie 14, Sioux Falls 4 — Box Score
In the first inning the Grand Prairie AirHogs sent 14 batters to the plate, registered five hits and took advantage of three Sioux Falls errors to score nine runs and take command of the ball game. The AirHogs never trailed as they downed the Canaries 14-4.
The AirHogs scored a pair of runs in the third and another pair in the fourth to go up 13-0. The Canaries got on the scoreboard in the fifth inning but never came within 10 runs of Grand Prairie. For the AirHogs, 1B Jason Botts went 4-for-5 with five RBI and C Vince DiFazio homered twice to add three RBI. 2B Alex Nunez went 3-for-6 and scored twice. On the bump for the AirHogs, starter Jason Jarvis picked up the win as he went six innings and allowed two runs on five hits.
Offensively for the Canaries, C Matt Hitt had a team-high three hits in four at bats and scored twice.
Sioux City 9, Fargo-Moorhead 6 — Box Score
The Sioux City Explorers jumped out to an early lead by posting eight unanswered runs in the first three innings and held on to beat the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawls 9-6.
Leadoff man LF Oscar Mesa went 2-for-2 with two runs scored, an RBI and a pair of walks. The middle of the order was also dangerously effective as 1B Rene Tosoni and 2B Andres Perez each had three RBI. CF Michael Lang added two hits and a pair of runs scored. Starting pitcher Patrick Johnson improved to 5-2 on the year as he went eight strong innings, allowing one run on four hits while striking out seven batters.
For the RedHawks, RF Brandon Tripp went 2-for-4 with three RBI and 3B Ronnie Bourquin was 2-for-5 and hit his 11th home run of the season.
Quebec 4, Laredo 1 — Box Score
The Quebec Capitales rode an impressive performance from starting pitcher Kyle Regnault to claim an interleague affair with the Laredo Lemurs 4-1.
Regnault pitched a complete game for the Capitales and had a shutout going into the bottom of the ninth inning. Laredo CF Denis Phipps put the Lemurs on the board with a solo home run in the last inning but that was too little too late as the Capitales were leading by four runs at the time. Regnault ended the night allowing just eight hits and striking out seven batters. It was his first complete game in his four seasons in the CanAm League.
The Capitales’ run production came from CF Sebastien Boucher, who went 3-for-5 with two RBI, and LF Matt Helms, who added an RBI.
