DURHAM, N.C.- The American Association has announced its 2017 Postseason All-Star Team. The team was voted upon by the league’s field managers and media representatives.
The North Division champion Winnipeg Goldeyes lead the team with four selections, followed closely by the South Division champion Wichita Wingnuts, who feature three players.
The complete team is below (Stats after games played September 1, 2017):
Catcher: Martin Medina, Wichita
- Tied for seventh in the American Association in batting with a .318 average
- Has accumulated 18 doubles, six home runs, and 47 RBI in 83 games
- American Association Midseason All-Star
- Second season with Wichita
First Base: Matt Chavez, Wichita
- American Association RBI leader with 84
- Tied for second in the American Association in batting with a .330 average
- Also has 16 doubles, a triple, and 17 home runs in 84 games

- Second season with Wichita
Second Base: Cesar Valera, Lincoln
- Fifth in the American Association in batting with a .327 average

- Owns a .312 average with 19 doubles, two triples, four home runs and 48 RBI

Designated Hitter: David Bergin, Winnipeg
- Ranks among leaders in all three triple crown categories — tied for second in average (.330), tied for third in home runs (20), fifth in RBI (77)

- 4-1 with a 1.60 ERA and 20 saves in 45 relief appearances

Defensive Player of the Year: Tony Campana, Sioux City
- Owns a .991 fielding percentage and just two errors in 89 games
- Four outfield assists and 228 putouts as a regular in the Explorers’ outfield

Further awards will be announced in the coming days, including the league’s Rookie of the Year, Manager of the Year, and Player of the Year.
