Mke

Milwaukee 4 Chicago 2

Tony Rosselli broke a 2-2 tie in the fifth, Aaron Hill homered twice, and the Milkmen (38-20) got past the Dogs (36-24) 4-2 on Thursday night.  After Chicago took a 1-0 lead in the top of the fourth, Hill answered with a two-run shot in the bottom half.  Brennan Metzger tied the game with a solo homer in the fifth before Rosselli singled home Trey Martin for the lead in the home half.  Hill homered again in the seventh to add insurance to the Milwaukee lead.

Cleburne 6 Gary SouthShore 5

A run in the top of the ninth inning broke a tie as the Railroaders (34-23) blew a 5-1 lead early only to edge the RailCats (23-26) 6-5 on Thursday at the U.S. Steel Yard.  Cleburne’s Osvaldo Martinez and Gary SouthShore’s Billy Cook exchanged first inning solo homers and Ramon Hernandez added a solo shot in the fifth for the big early lead, but Gary responded with a four-run bottom of the fifth to tie the game, which is where it would stay until an RBI groundout in the ninth by Alay Lago proved decisive.

Fargo-Moorhead 8 Kane County 5

Five runs in the final two innings, including three in the ninth to break a 5-5 tie, was enough to ensure a series win for the RedHawks (34-26) in an 8-5 win over the Cougars (28-31).  Trailing 4-3 in the eighth, Fargo-Moorhead’s Nick Novak doubled home a run and later scored to take a 5-4 lead.  Kane County answered in the bottom half with a Mitch Reeves single to score Anfernee Seymour.  But in the ninth, Novak launched a three-run shot that would prove to be the winning swing.  John Silviano also homered for the RedHawks while Kacy Clemens and Josh Rolette went deep for the Cougars.

Kansas City 8 Lincoln 7

Darnell Sweeney hit a pair of solo shots, including a tiebreaking solo homer in the top of the ninth inning as the Monarchs (36-20) edged the Saltdogs (29-29) in a see-saw affair 8-7.  Lincoln led early thanks to single runs in the first and second inning followed by a pair of solo homers in the fourth by Edgar Corcino and Forrestt Allday.  But Kansas City rallied in the sixth with three runs on Sweeney’s first solo homer and a two-run shot by Jan Hernandez to cut the lead to 4-3.  Trailing 5-3 in the eighth, Kansas City scored four runs only to see Lincoln tie the game with a pair of their own before Sweeney’s decisive swing in the ninth.

Sioux City 11 Sioux Falls 2

A five-run fifth inning blew open a tie game as the Explorers (32-27) rolled to an 11-2 win over the Canaries (23-35).  A Cade Gotta solo homer in the first tied the game for Sioux Falls, and it would be tied at 2 in the fifth when Sioux City scored five runs on five hits for a 7-2 lead.  Jose Sermo would add a two-run double in the sixth and D.J. Poteet launched a two-run homer in the ninth to complete the scoring.

Houston 6 Winnipeg 4

A four-run first inning was enough for the Apollos (8-48) to end a seventeen-game losing streak with a 6-4 win over the Goldeyes (28-30).  Houston opened the game with four runs on three hits in the first, including an Aaron Takacs double and run scored.  Hudson Bilodeau added a run-scoring single in the second for a 5-0 lead.  Kyle Martin had a two-run homer for Winnipeg in the eighth inning.
